At Youth Tennis San Diego, we believe in the power of sports to bring people together, and tennis is the perfect way to do just that! Through our community programs, we promote healthy living, teamwork, and a sense of belonging. This February, we celebrated the success of our programs with a FREE, Family Fun Tennis Clinic at the Urban Village Recreation Center in City Heights.
Kids and parents came together on the courts to further their tennis skills, while staying active and having fun. Our end-of-session event was the perfect way to celebrate all the progress and hard work everyone has put in throughout the winter season!

The clinic wasn’t just about playing tennis—it was about building community and encouraging a healthy, active lifestyle. From our youngest participants to the adults and our coaches, everyone enjoyed the day and left with a smile and a sense of accomplishment.
Elias, an eighth-grader who’s been playing tennis at Urban Village since second grade, shared his excitement for the sport: “I like tennis because it’s fun! I hope to play for Hoover High School next year, and maybe even get a college scholarship one day.”
The Portugal family also joined in the fun. Six-year-old Anya said: “I like to play tennis because I want to make my grandpa proud. ”Her mom, Norma, shared how much they love the City Heights program: “We love tennis and the City Heights program because it brings our family together.”
We are incredibly proud of our outreach programs at the Urban Village Rec and throughout the San Diego community. We believe tennis isn’t just about the game—it’s about fostering relationships, encouraging healthy living, and supporting one another.
Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make the day a success. We look forward to more fun and memorable events ahead!
